A research team from the Archaeological Legacy Institute and Purdue University is sailing to Nikumaroro Island in the Pacific to inspect a possible wreckage of Amelia Earhart's plane. The aviator vanished in 1937 while attempting to circumnavigate the globe. The team aims to find the Taraia Object, first spotted in satellite imagery in 2020, but some experts are sceptical.
