Ebola Spreads in Eastern DRC as Kenya Confirms Fatal Imported Case

Ebola has reached a new health zone in eastern DRC, with Alimbongo in North Kivu reporting its first cases, while Kenya confirmed a fatal imported Bundibugyo virus infection. The WHO recorded 8,728 confirmed cases and 4,205 deaths in DRC as of October 6. Limited treatment capacity, insecurity and misinformation are hampering containment efforts.
