India on Sunday dismissed the UN human rights office's concerns about events in New Delhi as "unwarranted" and unacceptable interference in its internal affairs. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal defended Delhi's record on peaceful assembly, saying the right is guaranteed by the Constitution and protected by robust institutions, an independent judiciary and a free media. The response followed UN concern over mass detentions during protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
