India's Retail Inflation Rises to 5.54% in September

India's retail inflation climbed to 5.54 per cent in September 2026, up from 4.83 per cent in August, according to provisional National Statistics Office data. Rural inflation stood at 6.08 per cent against 4.88 per cent in urban areas. Food inflation, based on the Consumer Food Price Index, jumped to 7.74 per cent from 5.97 per cent, remaining the key driver.
