Spanish Transport Minister Oscar Puente resigned and withdrew from the upcoming general election after a high-speed train collision in Castilla-La Mancha killed 69 people. It was the second major rail disaster in under a year, following a January derailment in Andalusia that killed 46. Puente said no minister could stay on after two such accidents.
