Canada Bars Russian and Belarusian Players from World Juniors

Canada will not allow Russian or Belarusian ice hockey players to compete in the World Junior Championships next month, Prime Minister Mark Carney said, citing the war in Ukraine. The move follows the Court of Arbitration for Sport lifting the IIHF's ban on Russia, which had been in place since the 2022 invasion. Norway, Denmark, Sweden and the Czech Republic have also refused to play Russia at next year's men's world championship.
