A landscape bought for £524.80 at a Newbury auction in 2024 was later identified as an early JMW Turner and sold for about £1.9 million at Sotheby's in July 2025. Cleaning revealed a 'W Turner' signature on the work, The Rising Squall, Hot Wells, from St Vincent's Rock, Bristol, painted around 1792.
