Sensex Surges 1,388 Points as Nifty Closes Above 24,300

Indian equities rallied sharply, with the Sensex jumping 1,388.43 points, or 1.80 percent, to 78,689.83, and the Nifty gaining 382.15 points, or 1.59 percent, to 24,342.75. Market breadth was strongly positive, with 2,099 shares advancing against 397 declining. Auto stocks led sectoral gains, while pharma was the sole laggard. Bond yields fell to a 40-day low and the rupee hit a 15-day high.
