The Nifty 50 surged 576 points, or 2.40%, to 24,536.60, its biggest single-day gain since April 8 and first close above 24,500 since August 7. BSE market capitalisation crossed Rs 500 lakh crore, adding roughly Rs 8 lakh crore in a session. A sharp fall in crude oil prices, renewed FII buying and firm global cues drove the rally.
