Defence officials said all serving Agniveers will join the regular military cadre after six years, provided they are willing, physically fit and disciplined. The first 25 per cent will be absorbed after four years, the remaining 75 per cent after an additional two-year engagement, with no cap. The Agnipath scheme has not been rolled back, officials stressed, amid protests and political attacks.
