Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said the party can take encouragement from setbacks suffered by populist and right-wing leaders worldwide, including Trump's Republicans in the 2026 US midterms. He cautioned, however, that foreign politics cannot serve as a blueprint for India ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. On India-US ties, he said India must keep negotiating with Trump.
