Adam Hamawy becomes New Jersey's first Muslim US congressman

Egyptian-American surgeon Adam Hamawy has won election to the US Congress from New Jersey's 12th District, becoming the state's first Muslim representative. The Army veteran and Gaza medical volunteer campaigned on a "healthcare not bombs" platform. He is among eight Muslim Americans elected as Democrats took control of both chambers of Congress.
