The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced the theme for the 2027 Met Gala: extraORDINARY: Fashion and the Poetics of the Everyday, examining how designers reinterpret everyday clothing and commonplace materials. The May 3, 2027 gala opens an exhibition running May 9 to January 9, 2028. It replaces a planned John Galliano retrospective cancelled after backlash over his past antisemitic and racist remarks.
