An 18-month-old elephant calf named Maya was airlifted from Kerala to Vantara in Jamnagar on November 5 for treatment of bilateral leg fractures and brittle bones. The transfer followed a Kerala Chief Wildlife Warden order after a medical board recommended advanced care. Maya, hand-reared since her 2025 rescue, will receive round-the-clock monitoring, with Kerala retaining charge of her care.
