An Indian Air Force IL-76MD heavy-lift aircraft has landed at the Nyoma air base in eastern Ladakh at over 13,600 feet, the highest touchdown ever recorded for the aircraft worldwide. The IAF called it a milestone reinforcing India's strategic airlift capability. The newly built base, about 25-35 km from the Line of Actual Control, was operationalised last year.
