An Indian Air Force IL-76MD heavy-lift aircraft has landed at Nyoma airbase in eastern Ladakh at 13,629 feet, setting a world record for the highest-altitude landing by an aircraft of its class. The airbase, about 25 km from the Line of Actual Control with China, was operationalised last year and strengthens India's strategic airlift and forward logistics capability.
