State-run oil marketing companies Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL said on Friday that nationwide testing of E20 petrol found no evidence of high chloride or moisture contamination, reaffirming fuel quality remains within prescribed limits. The intensified testing followed media reports alleging contamination. More than 100 refinery samples showed chloride at or below 1 ppm, and ethanol from 80 distilleries recorded below 3 ppm. Two isolated elevated chloride cases led to immediate supply suspension.
