Climate change driving more frequent, complex Assam floods

An analysis by Climate Trends reveals that Assam's floods are increasingly driven by climate change, not just monsoon rains. Rising temperatures, Himalayan warming, and human expansion in flood-prone areas are making floods more frequent and destructive. The report warns of increased extreme rainfall and glacier melt, projecting significant rises in flood events and economic losses. Recent floods in eastern Assam have caused over 90 deaths and affected more than 11 lakh people.
