Louisiana urges caution as deadly Vibrio infections surge

Louisiana health officials are urging beachgoers to take precautions after a surge in Vibrio vulnificus infections, with nine cases and five deaths reported this year, compared to an average of seven cases and one death in the previous decade. The bacteria, found in coastal waters, can be fatal in one in five infections, and climate change is contributing to its spread.
