Sony, TSMC in Talks for $6.4B Japan Chip Plant

Sony and TSMC are discussing a combined ¥1 trillion ($6.4 billion) investment to build a factory in Kumamoto, Japan, for next-generation image sensors used in cars and robots. Production is targeted for 2029, and the project may expand with Japanese government support.
