A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, shaking buildings in Bogotá and felt in Ecuador and Panama. The USGS recorded the quake at a depth of about 107 km, near San José del Palmar. Colombian authorities gave lower preliminary estimates, and damage assessments are underway.
