TRAI mandates 1601-series for service calls by utilities, logistics

India's telecom regulator TRAI has directed the use of a dedicated 1601-series number for transactional and service calls by entities in utilities, courier, and logistics sectors, aiming to curb fraud and enhance consumer trust. The numbers will be allocated directly to eligible entities after verification, with migration required within 90 days.
