Extreme heat forces early Franciacorta grape harvest

Winemakers in Italy's Franciacorta region are harvesting grapes 10 days earlier than expected due to extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 38°C (100°F) and below-average rainfall. The early harvest, about a month earlier than three decades ago, is part of an industrywide effort to preserve grape quality as climate change narrows the picking window. Workers now start at 4 a.m. to avoid the hottest part of the day.
