Hydrogen-powered car sets new land speed record

The JCB Hydromax, driven by retired RAF pilot Andy Green, averaged 406.320 mph (653.909 kph) at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats on Aug. 11, becoming the fastest hydrogen-powered car in history. The previous record was 303 mph. Green, who broke the sound barrier on land in 1997, praised the vehicle's performance and reliability.
