Bangladesh is holding its first contested presidential election in 35 years, with BNP nominee Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir facing Oli Ahmad of the Jamaat-led opposition alliance. Alamgir is widely expected to win given the BNP's two-thirds parliamentary majority. The vote follows President Mohammed Shahabuddin's resignation last month.
