Expedition to Study Atlantic Nuclear Waste Set to Launch

An expedition to study the impact of over 200,000 barrels of radioactive waste dumped in the Atlantic Ocean by European nations between 1971 and 1982 is set to begin. Researchers from France, Norway, Germany, and Spain will investigate the waste's effects on marine life and identify radionuclides. The study is among the first radioecological surveys in the deep sea.
