The Centre has formed a committee led by former Deputy NSA Pankaj Kumar Singh to draft a permanent political solution for the Gorkha identity issue in Darjeeling hills. The decision followed a tripartite meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah with Gorkha leaders and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Shah assured constitutional recognition and central funding for pending issues.
