India will temporarily import raw sugar to address rising prices ahead of the festival season, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said. Production has declined due to red rot disease and El Nino, affecting output globally. India's annual requirement is 280 lakh tonnes, with a surplus of 20-25 lakh tonnes.
