Hong Kong Holds State Funeral for First Leader Tung Chee-hwa

Hong Kong has held a state funeral for Tung Chee-hwa, its first post-colonial leader, who died on September 8 aged 89. Senior Chinese and Hong Kong officials, including Politburo member Shi Taifeng and chief executive John Lee, attended the ceremony at North Point. Tung led the city from 1997 through the Asian financial crisis and SARS before resigning in 2005.
