Opposition parties in West Bengal have suspended ground campaigning for the Nandigram and Rejinagar by-elections, alleging police intimidation. Congress candidate Milan Pradhan was arrested in Nandigram and jailed until October 3, while AJUP chief Humayun Kabir said four party workers were arrested in Rejinagar. The BJP is expected to benefit from the weakened opposition challenge.
