HIV Injections Beat Daily Pills for Adolescents, Lancet Study Finds

A Lancet-published trial in Africa found that bi-monthly antiretroviral injections suppressed HIV more effectively than daily tablets in adolescents aged 12 to 19. Among 476 participants across Kenya, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe, only two on injectables experienced viral rebound versus 15 on pills. Researchers say the treatment could help young people overcome stigma, though cost and refrigeration limit access.
