Kazakhstan pushes to become Central Asia's AI hub

Kazakhstan is accelerating its ambition to become a regional artificial intelligence centre, declaring 2026 the Year of Digitalisation and AI and creating a dedicated ministry. Astana Hub trains hundreds in AI and programming, while experts warn of environmental and human rights risks. The country became the second jurisdiction after the EU to pass an AI law.
