US to Open Two New Military Bases in Greenland

The US plans to reopen a former Cold War-era base at Narsarsuaq and establish a presence at Mestersvig, currently used by Denmark's Sirius Dog Sled Patrol, under a trilateral agreement with Denmark and Greenland to be signed Tuesday. The deal follows months of pressure from President Trump, who has sought US control of Greenland. Denmark says the pact puts Arctic security under NATO.
