Ethiopian Airlines suspended flights to Mekelle, Axum and Shire on Wednesday after Tigrayan forces seized Mekelle airport from federal police overnight. The airline cited the "current situation in the Tigray region" and apologised to customers. The suspension deepens fears of renewed conflict after the TPLF allied with six armed groups to overthrow Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government.
