Congress Seeks Impeachment of CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Congress on Wednesday said Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has lost the administrative and moral right to remain in office, alleging he was exposed by two fellow commissioners. Jairam Ramesh said opposition MPs will press fresh impeachment motions, citing a report that Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi objected at least 14 times to SIR decisions. The Election Commission defended its orders as legally valid.
