Neria Leiter, son of Israel's US ambassador Yechiel Leiter, was critically injured when a Palestinian driver rammed a checkpoint near Beit Horon in the occupied West Bank. The driver, identified as 29-year-old Muhammad Mahmoud Suleiman, was shot dead. Leiter had continued serving in reserves after his older brother was killed in Gaza in 2023. The ambassador returned to Israel from the UN General Assembly.
