Bank Unions Begin Three-Day Nationwide Strike Over Pending Demands

Banking services across India face disruption as the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) began a three-day strike from September 28 to 30. The UFBU, representing seven unions and about 90% of the workforce, is demanding implementation of five-day banking, a uniform performance-linked incentive scheme, pension updates, and a choice between the National Pension System and the old pension scheme. The government has kept the PLI scheme in abeyance for FY 2025-26.
