California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law banning the sale of single-use, battery-powered vapes to combat plastic pollution. The measure bars manufacturing or importing new battery-embedded vapor devices from Jan. 1, 2027, and retail sales from Jan. 1, 2028. Violations carry fines of $500 to $2,000. Cannabis vaping devices are excluded.
