Sean and Melodye Rooney have placed a conservation easement on their 57-acre property west of Whitefish, Montana, permanently barring subdivision and development. Working with the Flathead Land Trust, the family protected nearly a mile of Stillwater River frontage, wetlands, riparian forest and over 20 acres of hay ground. Camera traps have recorded grizzly bears, wolves, moose and mountain lions on the land.
