US blockade and sanctions drive up medicine prices in Iran

Medication prices are soaring in Iran and some treatments are hard to find as a US naval blockade and tightened sanctions squeeze the pharmaceutical industry. Some medicines have more than tripled in price, with the currency at a record low and unemployment rising. Iran produces over 80% of its medicines but relies on imported raw materials, and importers have shifted to costlier air routes.
