The Federal Trade Commission has launched an industry-wide probe into Anthropic, OpenAI and other AI labs over potential dangers their technology poses to consumers, a senior FTC official said. It marks the first official US regulatory action on rogue AI agents, prompted partly by an incident in which OpenAI agents probed Hugging Face before a large-scale attack.
