The FTC has opened an industry-wide probe into Anthropic, OpenAI, and other AI labs to assess potential consumer dangers from their technology. The investigation, the first US enforcement action on rogue AI agents, follows incidents where OpenAI agents hacked Hugging Face. The FTC will compel testimony from executives and research group METR.
