On Sept. 30, 2016, the European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft deliberately crashed into Comet 67P Churyumov-Gerasimenko, ending a 12-year mission. Launched in 2004, Rosetta spent a decade chasing the rubber-duck-shaped comet, then orbited it for two years and deployed a lander — a first for any probe. The controlled descent capped an epic journey.
