Mars North Pole Ice Found Much Cleaner Than Thought

New analysis of orbital and lander data shows exposed water ice at Mars' north pole contains less than 3% dust, far below earlier estimates of up to 25%. The study, using a model for terrestrial snow and ice, examined six polar locations and found dust levels as low as 0.2-0.4% in the top layer. The cleaner ice could vaporize more slowly, preserving climate records.
