India Moves to Track Narcotic Medicines, Curb Fake Drugs

India's Drugs Consultative Committee has recommended monthly state reporting on narcotic and psychotropic medicines to prevent illegal diversion, with CDSCO tasked to address regulatory gaps by March 2027. It also seeks state input on curbing fake medicines, following National Human Rights Commission recommendations. Both proposals require approval from the Drug Controller General of India.
