Judge Rules Federal Noncitizen Voting Law Unconstitutional

A federal judge in Miami ruled that a law criminalizing voting by noncitizens is unconstitutional, saying only states can set voter qualifications. The case against Chelsea Cox, a Jamaican immigrant charged with illegal voting in 2020, was dismissed. The ruling applies only to her case, but about 45 similar cases are pending nationwide.
