Jordan faces mounting pressure as Israel expands settlements, confiscates land and restricts Palestinian movement across the West Bank, raising fears of de facto annexation. Reports of a planned 480km barrier, the "Crimson Thread", could isolate the Jordan Valley and sever the West Bank from Jordan.
