COVID-19 Disrupted Stroke Care Worldwide, Review Finds

A review of 107 studies found the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted stroke care globally, with reduced admissions, delayed treatment, and more severe strokes. Some studies reported monthly ischaemic stroke admissions falling by 31% to 44%, while mortality at discharge rose to 7.7% from 2.5%. Researchers called for more resilient stroke systems and equitable telemedicine access.
