Indian-American seventh-grader boosts water-from-air device by 117%

Ankith Burki, a seventh-grader at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley in San Jose, designed an atmospheric water generator and found that low-frequency sine waves increased its water collection by 117 percent. His project made him one of 30 national finalists in the 2026 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge, a leading US STEM competition for middle-schoolers.
