Spaceflight at 69: 746 People From 52 Countries Have Flown

Sixty-nine years after Sputnik 1 opened the Space Age, at least 746 people from 52 countries have reached space, Al Jazeera reports. The US leads with 369 travellers, followed by the Soviet Union and Russia with 138 combined and China with 29. Only 112, or 15 percent, have been women, though commercial flights are lifting that share.
